UREC GroupX classes are exercise classes taught in a group setting allowing participants to motivate each other while working with a trained instructor. GroupX is FREE to all UREC members at no additional cost. Check out our semester schedule here.

How to Register
- Go to UREC’s Fusion Portal(not the same as IMLeagues).
- Every LSU student and Faculty & Staff UREC member should already have an UREC Fusion Portal account, and be able to login using their MyLSU credentials.
- Using your MyLSU credentials without “@lsu.edu”, “SIGN IN” where it states “Already Have an Account”. There is no need to create a new account.
- Note: If you do not have a MyLSU account but are a UREC member, please contact the LSU UREC Operations Desk to set up your account.
- Note: Because your login information is established through your MyLSU ID and MyLSU password, you are unable to reset your password through UREC’s Online Portal and/or for IMLeagues. If you click “reset password,” you will get an error message saying you are “Unable to Reset Password. Your account is managed in another system. Please use their tools to manage your password.”
- After signing into the UREC Fusion Portal, you will be directed to the IMLeagues Account Creation page.
- Next, you will be redirected to the IMLeagues website where you can reserve your spot for GroupX classes by selecting the “Fitness” option.
- Log in to your IMLeagues account.
- Click on the Fitness tab near the top of the page.
- When the class is open for registration, select the class you want to register for by clicking on the class in the Fitness Calendar or select the green “Sign Up” button.
- You will be directed to the specific class page where you will confirm your registration.
- Click “Accept” after reading the waiver agreement and click the blue “Sign Up” button again.
- You are now confirmed for class and will see your name on the class roster.
- Download the IMLeages APP on your phone for easier registration.
- Allows you to register for classes from your phone with ease.
- Log in to your IMLeagues account.
- Click on the Fitness tab near the top of the page.
- When the class is open for registration, select the class you want to cancel by clicking on the class in the Fitness Calendar.
- Please cancel your class registration prior to the allotted times to avoid a penalty:
- Classes prior to 4:00 p.m. – cancel class reservation at least one hour prior to class start time.
- Evening classes after 4:00 p.m. – cancel class reservation by 4:00 p.m.
- Click the red “Unregister for Session” button.
If you cannot make a class, we ask that you cancel your reservation allowing another participant into the class. If you do not cancel your reservation, the following action will be taken:
- First offense: Email warning
- Second offense: Email warning
- Third Offense: Participant will be blocked from Online GroupX class reservation for two weeks.
GroupX Class Descriptions

Boxing Conditioning
Boxing Conditioning is a 60-minute class that will enhance your endurance and boxing technique.
Participants can expect:
- Both Boxmaster and heavy bag training
- Strength based body weight exercises
*Gloves and wraps are required for all boxing classes. If you need gloves and wraps, a pair of Everlast gloves and wraps are available at our Pro Shop for $30.

Boxmaster
Boxmaster is a workout made up of 7 rounds of punching and 7 rounds of recovery that will hit every aspect of conditioning
Participants can expect:
- A great workout that will improve conditioning and eye-hand coordination.
- A very fun atmosphere that both motivates and challenges all fitness levels.
*Gloves and wraps are required for all boxing classes. If you need gloves and wraps, a pair of Everlast gloves and wraps are available at our Pro Shop for $30.

Cycle: Coach By Color
Coach by Color training system delivers color-coded feedback to the rider on their own bike monitor. This system uses five different color zones to indicate the riders work level while creating friendly competition in the class.
Participants can expect:
- Opportunity to determine your personal FTP (Functional Threshold Power).
- To be coached through customized workouts challenging your strength, endurance and power.

Cycle: Tiger Beat
Come enjoy an intensely fun ride with us! This cycle class features high-intensity cardio and rhythm-based choreography.
Participants can expect:
- Movements like push-ups and isolations to strength the upper body, core, and legs.
- Music from the latest top hits to motivate your workout

Hardcore
Look no further if you are searching for a way to to improve your core strength, balance, and coordination.
Participants can expect:
- 30-minute program that focuses on strengthening your core muscles.
- Exercises that challenge supporting muscle groups such as back, and glutes

HIIT
This 45-minute High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class will utilize alternating, short periods of high intensity exercises with less intense periods of recovery for the ultimate muscular endurance workout.
Participants can expect:
- Exercises that keep the heart rate high, and challenge cardiovascular capacity.
- Motivational instructors to push you through several rounds and circuits

Interval Conditioning
This cardio heavy training class incorporates high-intensity bouts of cardio, strength, endurance, and power.
Participants can expect:
- Unique, state of the art functional equipment for every muscle group.
- Small group team atmosphere to enhances motivation.

Guided Meditation
Use this an opportunity to decrease stress and increase inner peace in our quiet Mind/Body Studio.
Participants can expect:
- Guided visual meditation using imagery, breath, and body awareness.
- A certified instructor to direct minimal movement patterns and thought patterns.
Come in loose-fitting clothes and bring a small blanket or yoga towel.

Pilates
This revolutionary series of exercises is based on breathing and muscle control focused particularly on your core.
Participants can expect:
- Lengthen and strengthen the body using core muscle groups through a series of low-impact exercise.
- Improve posture, enhance injury prevention, increase strength and flexibility.

Pop N Plyo
This unique class is a combination of dancing, cardio, plyometrics, and body weight exercises in a high energy environment that will leave you wanting to come back for more.
Participants can expect:
- Plyometric exercises with modifications to fit the needs of every individual.
- Choreographed dance patterns from styles of pop, hip-hop, and jazz.

Power Yoga
This upbeat yoga class will tone, strengthen, and stretch your body. Power Yoga holds poses longer to increase strength, flexibility, and balance.
Participants can expect:
- The incorporation of arm balances and inversions to challenge your physical and mental limits.
- A positive and uplifting environment that is inclusive to all levels.

Sunrise Yoga
Awaken your mind and body first thing in the morning in this Hatha Yoga class. Participants will engage in a variety of yoga and breathing exercises to give them a great start to the day.
Participants can expect:
- Gentle meditation and mindful breathing exercise.
- Increase blood flow from Vinyasa Flow poses.

Tiger Pump
Using lighter weights and more repetitions in this strength training class will sculpt all your body’s major muscle groups.
Participants can expect:
- Use of various equipment such as dumbbells, barbells, and resistance bands.
- Choreographed movements to upbeat top hits.

Tiger Theory
This class is exclusively offered at UREC Nicholson that places an emphasis on high intensity cardio and functional training.
Participants can expect:
- Circuit-based training in a small group setting.
- Functional equipment such as the TRX, slam bags, rowers, and Skill Mills.

Total Body
This class is a full body strength class that incorporates training exercises for the entire body.
Participants can expect:
- A variety of strength training exercises using free-weights and bodyweight
- Conditioning drills that decrease recovery time and increase working time.

TRX® Total Body
TRX® Suspension Training provides a total body strengthening workout focused on using your own body weight. This challenging experience is guaranteed to provide results even professional athletes can attest to.
Participants can expect:
- To be challenged with performance-based exercise programming .
- A unique understanding of how to use your body to increase strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular capacity.

Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa flow is a combination of yoga poses that focuses on the synchronization of breath and continuous flow of movement.
Participants can expect:
- A practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, and mental focus.
- A continuous sequence of sun salutations and standing postures.

Yoga For Relaxation
This class will help you find your inner Chi and bring yourself back to reality. You will lengthen and stretch tired muscles to recover from whatever the week threw at you.
Participants can expect:
- Yoga poses designed for maximal relaxation and restoration.
- A calming atmosphere that resets your mind and body.

Yoga On The Deck
Join us as we begin this practice with an opportunity to awaken our bodies in the outdoor environment!
This class will have you feel feel at one with the world around then as class is practiced on our Mind/Body Studio outdoor patio.
Participants can expect:
- An open environment encourages the exploration of the body and spirit.
- Poses, breath control, and the strengthening of each muscle will be a main area of focus.

ZUMBA
This class combines high energy and motivating music with unique and easy to follow dance moves.
Participants can expect:
- Latin- based dance moves and flair.
- A judgement free community the promotes a healthy and fun fitness experience.
No dance experience required.

ZUMBA Strong
STRONG by Zumba® combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move.
Participants can expect:
- Squats, lunges, jumping jacks, and burpies driven by the music.
- Increased calorie burn while toning arms, legs, abs, and glutes.
Special Events

ACE Group Fitness Certification Course
Begins January 26
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare for the ACE Group Fitness Instructor Certification Exam and become effective group fitness instructors. Key topics covered include: human anatomy, exercise physiology, pre-class preparation, participant monitoring, program design, how to teach a group exercise class, and much more!
Registration: January 1 – January 22

Tiger Fit Challenge
Begins February 21
The Tiger Fit GroupX Challenge, is a group fitness incentive program that rewards participants with prizes for the number of classes that they complete within this 5 week period. Prizes for this program include; fitness towels, water bottles, and exclusive t-shirts for completion of the program. Check out our schedule, grab a buddy, and take on the Tiger Fit Challenge!

Stay Active: Faculty and Staff Fitness
Begins February 22
This Faculty and Staff Fitness program is designed to provide you with the accountability, and motivation to keep moving this semester. In this program we challenge you and your department to commit to make movement your motivation. Each department will compete against one another by gaining points for various exercise activities, attending Lunch and Learns, and for participating in virtual fitness classes accessible to faculty and staff only, to be sure you can participate from the comfort of your own home. Register your group today and leave the rest to us.

Fitness on the Geaux

Are you interested in using a Campus Recreation Group Exercise Instructor or Personal Trainer for an on-campus special event or program? We are ready to bring fitness to you. We understand that faculty, staff, and students are busy, so we are excited to offer Fitness on the Geaux! This program brings our instructors to your on-campus location and provides your group or department a customized class or educational session of your choice. Simply complete the form below, and we will follow up with you as quickly as possible.

Registration
You must be a valid member in order to purchase a personal training package.
- Fill out the Registration Form.
- You’ll then be contacted via email within 5 business days regarding registration status.
- If a member(s) of the group needs to get medical release from a registered physician before the start of training, they must do so within 10 days of receiving confirmation. If medical clearance is not received within 10 days, the entire group’s reservation will be forfeited.
- Payment Options: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or Internal Transfer (LSU departments only).
