Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid & AED Certification Course

Cost: $75

The purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED class is to help participants react and respond to cardiac and first aid emergencies appropriately. The courses in this program are designed to teach the skills needed to provide care to suddenly ill or injured persons until advanced medical arrive. This is a two-part course with the first taking place online.

The second part is a skills session and written test where participants will demonstrate their knowledge. Participants that pass this course will receive a certification valid for two years encompassing emergency response related to adult and pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED.

Lifeguard Course

3-Day Blended Learning Lifeguard Training Certification Course

This class is designated for participants that are looking to obtain American Red Cross Certification or that are seeking to become a UREC lifeguard.

Participants must be at least 15 years of age prior to the final day of the course. Parent signature required for participants under the age of 18 years old. Participants will be required to pass the American Red Cross lifeguarding prerequisites prior to continuing in the course. They should take time prior to the start of the course to practice and prepare.

*Must attend all sessions in order to obtain certification.

For participants that already have an American Red Cross Certification nearing expiration, or that has been expired for less than 30 days a copy of your certification will need to be submitted to the Assistant Director of Aquatics,, following your registration.

Lifeguard Instructor Course

There are no Lifeguard Instructor Course offerings this semester. Please check back next semester. Email Assistant Director of Aquatics, Troy Lukas for questions.

The Lifeguard Instructor Recertification course is designed to provide current American Red Cross Instructors with the in-person skills session that are required to maintain or update their current American Red Cross certification. This is a one day course. Current Certification must be emailed to Assistant Director of Aquatics, Tory Lukas at prior to registration for course.

This updated certification is valid for two years. All participants must complete prerequisite skills, CPR skill demonstration, video review, perform water skills and assessments, and pass the written test.

Full certifications courses are 3 days and required attendance for all three with an online blended learning component that participants will receive after payment is submitted, and must be completed prior to attending.

Discovery Dives

Cost: $40 | Location: UREC Classroom and Outdoor Pool
Learn about our 2 hour beginner scuba course for those that want to see what it is like to breath underwater!

Swim suits are required!

Scuba Lessons

Cost: $300 | Location: UREC Classroom and Outdoor Pool
This 4 day course will give you the knowledge to test out for your scuba diving certificate. UREC Scuba Lessons will not provide the actual certificate at the completion of the class, but rather the required training needed to test out at a scuba training site of your own choice.

Participants have the option to bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins or provide the instructors $50 at the time of lessons to rent the equipment for the duration of the lessons.

Private Lessons

Private swim lessons are designed with your specific swim needs in mind. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner learning swim basics or more advanced looking for a customized workout because a UREC swim instructor will design a course for your specific swimming goals. Think of a personal trainer, but in the UREC pools!

Each registration consists of 5, 45 minute lessons arranged between you and our Aquatics team. Sessions are built over two week periods, but we can accommodate extended availability as well.
