Summer 2022 American Red Cross Courses

AED Defibrillator and CPR Mannequin

Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid & AED Course

Base Rate: $75

The purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED class is to help participants react and respond to cardiac and first aid emergencies appropriately. The courses in this program are designed to teach the skills needed to provide care to suddenly ill or injured persons until advanced medical arrive. This is a two-part course with the first part being blended learning.

The second part is a skills session and written test where participants will demonstrate their knowledge. Participants that pass this course will receive a certification valid for two years encompassing emergency response related to adult and pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED.

Participants must be at least 15 years of age prior to the final day of the course.

    Lifeguard Course

    3-Day Blended Learning Lifeguard Course

    This class is designated for participants that are looking to obtain an American Red Cross Certification or that are seeking to become a UREC lifeguard.

    Participants must be at least 15 years of age prior to the final day of the course. Parent signature required for participants under the age of 18 years old. Participants will be required to pass the American Red Cross lifeguarding prerequisites prior to continuing in the course. They should take time prior to the start of the course to practice and prepare.

    *Must attend all sessions in order to obtain certification.

  • For participants that already have an American Red Cross Certification nearing expiration, or that has been expired for less than 30 days a copy of your certification will need to be submitted to the Assistant Director of Aquatics,, following your registration.

    Lifeguard Instructor or
    Instructor Trainer In-Person Update

    The Lifeguard Instructor or Instructor Trainer Update course is designed to provide current American Red Cross Instructors with the in-person skills session that are required to maintain or update their current American Red Cross certification. This is a one-day course. Current Certification must be emailed to the Assistant Director of Aquatics, Brittany Morriss at prior to registration for course.

    This updated certification is valid for two years. All participants must complete prerequisite skills, CPR skill demonstration, video review, perform water skills and assessments, and pass the written test.

    Full certifications courses are 3 days and required attendance for all three with an online blended learning component that participants will receive after payment is submitted, and must be completed prior to attending.

    Participants must be at least 18 years of age prior to the final day of the course.

    Discovery Dives

    Base Rate: $40 | Location: UREC Classroom and Outdoor Pool
    Finally, a chance to see what it is like to breath underwater. This two hour session includes a brief safety overview followed practicing in the pool equipped with full scuba gear

    Scuba Lessons

    Base Rate: $300 | Location: UREC Classroom and Outdoor Pool
    This 3 day course will give you the knowledge to test out for your scuba diving certificate. UREC Scuba Lessons will not provide the actual certificate at the completion of the class, but rather the required training needed to test out at a scuba training site of your own choice.

    Participants have the option to bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins or provide the instructors $50 at the time of lessons to rent the equipment for the duration of the lessons.

    The following forms must be completed and dropped off at UREC prior to attending any scuba lessons:

    * Scuba lessons may be purchased by credit card at the Main UREC Operations Desk or by monthly installments utilizing FACTS Payment Plan. Payroll deduction is no longer an option for payment options. Registration is still required.

    Summer 2022 Swim School

    Swim School

    UREC Swim School Summer Session is group swim lessons designed for 3-6 or 3-8 children participants who enjoy learning in small group settings. Different levels allow you to choose which class level is best suited for your child’s current skill level. Swimmers will receive 8, 30 minute lessons per session.
